This is a question that my clients rarely want to answer. They look at me like "I've sacrificed enough- stay away from my favorite shows!"
But, studies have shown a correlation between TV watching and weight gain. TV watching actually burns fewer calories than sleeping!
So, here are some possible TV goals. Anyone care to choose one and commit to it for a couple of weeks?
- Cut TV watching back by 50%. If you usually watch 2 hours a day, try to watch only 1.
- Commit to exercise during all commercials. Turn up the sound so you know when your show is back on, but do your stairs during the ads. If just walking up and down your stairs doesn't do it, try skipping every other stair.
- Exercise while watching TV. Put a stationary bike in front of the TV.
- Commit to never eat while watching TV. Set a goal to drink one large water bottle during your favorite show.
- Instead of just sitting on your couch, stretch as you watch. You can stretch all of those sore muscles well during a one-hour show.
