TV commercials present sports drinks as a fitness necessity. They show an athlete drinking Gatorade winning a race against some poor fool who only has water.
Although the electrolytes in sports drinks come in handy during a marathon, you don't need sports drinks for your daily workout. Water is the perfect workout drink. Try to get in a lot of water while you exercise.
One trick is to weigh yourself before and after a workout. If you drank enough water during the workout, you should weigh the same when you finish.
