Calories & Fiber -- Secret to Success!

 

Forget everything you've heard about counting carbs, fat grams, or anything else. There are only two things that you will need to keep track of to have the best results you'll ever experience.

When I first started working as a personal trainer, I learned a simple phrase: "calories in vs. calories out." What that meant was that in order to lose weight, you had to eat less food than you burned off. At that point, I thought I knew everything it would take to make my clients lose weight. In fact, many personal trainers still believe that that's all you have to know.

A couple of years later, I was talking with a client about her caloric intake. Let's call her Mary. Mary was having a hard time with her daily calorie goal of 1300. Although she was managing to stick to the calorie recommendation, she felt weak, tired, and hungry. I asked her to try counting her fiber grams for a week, with the goal of eating 25-30 grams of fiber per day. A week later she reported feeling full, energetic, and great. She began to lose weight at a much more rapid pace, while eating the same number of calories. 

Soon, through similar experiences, I discovered the secret to helping clients choose high-quality foods.  If they made an effort to get enough fiber each day through natural food sources, they naturally ate well.  Results picked up and clients were losing more fat per week than I had previously believed possible. 

The only way to know for sure whether this simple but effective technique works is to try it.  For one month, try to slowly increase your fiber intake to 20-40 grams per day.  Follow the other simple tips given on this site, and watch the inches drop.
