The Advantages of Interval Training
Have your cardio workouts gotten a little bit dull? Do you dread your regular walk, bike ride or treadmill time? It may be time to mix it up a little with interval training. I
Here's what you need to do:
Next time you go to do your cardio, warm up as usual. Then exercise at a much more intense pace than usual (at about an 8 on a scale of 1-10.) Do this for a couple of minutes, and then slow down (to about a 5 or 6 level of exertion.) As you feel yourself breathing smoothly again, repeat the process.
This will help you take your workout to the next level and get increased results. Whenever you challenge your body in a new way, it burns extra calories. Also, the up and down style of an interval training workout tends to burn more calories.
Another bonus to interval training? It keeps the workout from getting too boring.
Have fun!
