Fit America Contest Updates

Bookmark this page to get all of the updates on the Fit America Contest!

January 17-

We now have 105 registered users on the Fit America Contest forum, and they are all helping and supporting each other.  There are also many fitness experts, the leaders in their fields, who are volunteering their time to help you succeed.  Check it out here.

For those of you in the Atlanta, Georgia area, be sure to listen to us on the Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy show.  We'll be on at about 7 pm on Sunday, February 4th.

January 11-

We're on day 11 of the contest.  Are you going to win?  Be sure to visit the fitness forum for support and encouragement.

As far as I can tell, information from the contest has been published in 33 newspapers, magazines, and tv and radio sites.  In addition, our press releases have been published on hundreds of news and information websites.

The Star Tribune link below is no longer effective, but I'd be glad to send you a copy of the article if you are interested. Many other articles are also not available because the newspapers don't leave them on their sites indefinitely.

Here are a few more links to mentions of the contest, though:

This article showed up in 30 Minneapolis area papers:

On New Year's Day, Komo 1000 news played different clips from an interview with Annette every hour.  Here's their print article and you can listen to one of the interview clips:

This article about fitness while traveling mentions the Fit America Contest and MyFitnessTrainer.com:

This was written by one of our forum experts, Chantal Donnelly. Chantal Donnelly is a physical therapist who has volunteered her time on the forum to help participants overcome injuries to win prizes. Here is a mention of the contest on her blog:

This blog is short and to-the-point, encouraging readers to join the Fit America Contest:

Here is an article that we found in the Star Tribune of Minneapolis, MN:

Exciting New Prizes

Several new sponsors have joined the Fit America Contest to help change the shape of our nation.

You can read all about the donations of AquaJogger, Jolene Marie's, and the Hypnosis Network
here.

Now here's some big news that you probably haven't heard yet: an international gym just made a very generous donation: 30 one-year memberships to their fitness clubs!  Winners for this prize will be found all across the country.

The big Nautilus donation has been announced. You can read all about it here.  In short, Nautilus has donated over $19,000 worth of exercise equipment, including the Bowflex Revolution home gym and the Treadclimber. They donated 10 pieces of equipment in total.

The Top Ten Reasons Why the Fit America Contest Will Make History

  1. This is not a local contest.  ANYONE can participate from ANYWHERE in the nation.  All you need to do is log on to www.FitAmericaContest.com to participate.
  2. This is not an exclusive event.  Any company with interest in helping America get fit can submit a prize for the contest.  It doesn’t matter if your company is in direct competition with the contest organizer, the owner of MyFitnessTrainer.com. It also doesn’t matter if your company can only donate prizes in your nearby community.
  3. Thanks to the power of the Internet, this is the first contest in the nation’s history of this size and potential.
  4. Winners are chosen subjectively.  That means that even if you only have 5 lbs to lose, you can still win a prize.  Or, if your weight loss is slowed by a health problem, you could still be a winner.  Just tell your story in the short essay with your final contest results.
  5. Oprah Winfrey has said something to the effect of “do good, and good will follow.”  This is a chance for the fitness community to give back to those they serve.
  6. The contest begins on New Year’s Day, and allows you to start the first three months of your year out with a bang.  Once the contest is over, winners will continue to maintain and improve their fitness level with the fitness-related prizes.
  7. There is no limit to the number of winners in this contest.  We accept any prize, big or small, in any area of the country.  If you would like your local gym or other company to participate in the contest, please send them our information.  The idea is to have hundreds or thousands of prizes, with an equal number of winners.
  8. There is no one diet or program that is best for everyone.  In this contest, participants are not forced to use one certain method of weight loss.  You can do what works for you.  (The only exception is that we highly encourage you to use healthy, safe means for weight loss.  Please consult your doctor.)
  9. Because winners are chosen by a subjective process, anyone has a chance to win.  Even if you only have 5 more pounds to lose, you could still win a prize.
  10. There is no entry fee for the Fit America Contest.  It is free for everyone.
